First Performances - Choose a song from a musical. You may choose one of the songs listed below or you may choose one of your own. If you choose a song not on this page, make sure you can provide instrumental accompaniment for it! It should be a new song to YOU. Don't do something you've done at competition or in class before. Challenge yourself with some new material. Practice the song on your own. You should focus on developing a character. Do NOT stress about this assignment. Everyone will be very supportive and you will never feel as nervous as this moment in this class again!
When you are ready to perform, give your music to the student who is running the music. Go up on stage and introduce yourself. "Hi. My name is _____________. I'm performing (title of song) from (title of show.) Then position yourself for the beginning of your song.
If you need to know the lyrics for the songs listed here, you can do a google search. Type in "broadway musical lyrics" and then the title of the song/show and the lyrics should come up. I may have sheet music for some of your choices. I will print them for you at a cost of $ .25 per page.
