| Audition for COMPREHENSIVE THEATRE |

Auditions will be held for Alonso’s COMPREHENSIVE THEATRE class on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 5pm – 8pm for incoming 9th graders, 2 - 5pm for current Alonso students. Comprehensive Theatre is our “top” performance class at Alonso High School. Students chosen to be in this class are the showcase performance group of the Alonso Theatre Program. Members participate in main-stage productions and competitions throughout the year. Travel opportunities, additional performance opportunities and the chance to work with professional guest artists are presented to this class. You may register to audition by emailing me at lisa.vorreiter@sdhc.k12.fl.us . To audition, you may choose to do 1 of the following:
1. Sing of a song of your choice from a song written for the theatre. MP3 speakers/CD player will be available to play your accompaniment. You may not use an accompaniment CD/MP3 that has vocals on it. Piano accompaniment will not be available.
2. Perform a 1-3 minute monologue from a play or movie.
If you’d like to perform in both areas, you are welcome to do so. If you do not know what to sing, suggestions for musical pieces, including accompaniment tracks are on a separate link under this page. You may use one of your own, but these are available in case you need help finding something to perform. You will also be asked to learn a simple dance combination at the audition. This is meant to show how well you take direction and how quickly you pick up new material. You will also be asked a few interview questions.
Alonso High School has a very productive and fun program. Many alumni have gone to college on scholarship and on to professional careers in the arts.
